A man who is charged with beating and sexually assaulting a woman near a bus stop in Humboldt Park was ordered held on $750,000 bail Friday.

Michael Campbell, 28, is charged with Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault, Kidnapping and Aggravated Robbery.

Early Monday morning, police say a 20-year-old woman was attacked at a bus stop on the 100 block of Western Ave.

She was dragged into a gangway, beaten and sexually assaulted.

The victim identified her attacker as a man captured in video footage at a gas station across the street from the bus stop taken minutes before the assault.

Another witness contacted police after the images were distributed to the news media and also identified the man as Campbell.

Campbell confessed to being at the bus stop and robbing the victim, she said.

He was taken into custody by police after receiving a tip from the Guardian Angels Thursday.
