A wide band of showers and thunderstorms moving should arrive in Chicago by early afternoon.

The eastward-moving area of showers and thunderstorms extends from eastern Iowa into western Illinois and much of southern Wisconsin and will probably cover the northern third of Illinois by early afternoon.

Much of the morning hours scattered showers and a few thunderstorms have been occurring south of Chicago into northwestern Indiana.

There have been brief heavy downpours with some of the stronger storms in the complex, but no damaging winds or hail have been reported. Indications are that strongest storm activity will probably be associated with the mid-late afternoon peak heating period of the day and then later this evening ahead of a cold front approaching from the northwest.
