Safeco FieldThe Cubs are in Seattle for the first time since 2010 (that was the Lou Piniella reunion tour here, if you recall).  Seems like a LONGGGGGG time ago, doesn’t it?

Quick primer on the Mariners — they don’t score a lot of runs and when they do, fairly decent bet it’s because of a home run (they lead the majors with nearly 49% of their runs coming on homers).  The Cubs will not face ace Felix Hernandez this weekend, but will have to face the very tough Hisashi Iwakuma tonight.  He ranks 2nd in the AL with a 2.26 ERA.

The Mariners are off to a disappointing start and as a result have made some interesting roster moves.  They demoted C Jesus Montero (who then got hurt) and 2B Dustin Ackley to the minors in May before recently bringing back Ackley to play the outfield.  Mike Zunino, who was drafted last year, is now catching, Nick Franklin is playing 2B and the Mariners today are bringing up a SS prospect named Brad Miller to try to boost their offense.  And while the Mariners are getting younger, they are being led in the power department by 41-year-old Raul Ibanez, who has 18 home runs already.

Beautiful city, great ballpark, we are looking forward to a fun weekend.
