courthouse40 couples gathered at the Cook County Criminal Courthouse this week, for the Annual Jailhouse Wedding Day.

The ceremonies were performed back-to-back Thursday, for any inmates wanting to wed.

Before the vows, guards removed all potential weapons from sight and even ordered one  man with a history of escape attempts to wear flip-flops.

After the “I do’s”, the inmates were quickly escorted back to jail.

Officials said the weddings are important because they give the inmates hope, which in turn makes them more easy to manage.
