A huge industrial fire that darkened the skies over Indianapolis could continue to burn until Monday, or longer.

The fire started Saturday afternoon at a downtown recycling plant and was fueled by propane tanks and massive stockpiles of rubber tires.

Businesses and homes within a five-block radius of the plant have been evacuated.

The building housed a number of businesses, including the recycling plant, but all were closed for the day, and no one is believed to have been inside.

Several firefighters suffered minor injuries.

Officials still don’t know what caused the fire and smoke could be seen as far as 20 miles away.
