Hands-free technology in cars is designed to keep driver’s focused on the road.

But a new study by AAA claims drivers are more distracted than ever.

Dashboard apps and voice-command technology can help you send emails, update social media and even buy movie tickets all while driving.

Researchers monitored drivers and found their eyes may be on the road, but their minds are not focused on driving.  “They were missing visual cues on the roadway, missed pedestrians, they were scanning the road less often, their reaction times greatly decreased and they were greatly distracted as they were headed down the roadway,” said AAA spokesperson Beth Mosher.

AAA would like automakers to install more technology which would shut off hands-free devices while the car is moving.
