Suspect questioned in 9-year-old’s shooting on South Side

Chicago detectives questioned a man suspected of shooting a nine-year-old boy on the South Side.

Police said the gunman may have been aiming at a friend of his mother’s when Tykeece Hilliard was shot in the chest.

The mother was driving near near the intersection of 67th St. and South Evans Ave. in the Park Manor neighborhood when someone began shooting the car multiple times.

The boy’s mother drove Hilliard to the hospital as the gunman fled the scene.

Hilliard is recovering in the hospital after undergoing surgery.
