Community activists who want a new trauma center at the University of Chicago Hospital held another protest on Saturday.

The protest was timed to coincide with the school’s alumni weekend as demonstrators hoped spread their message to both the U of C President Robert Zimmer and alumni visiting the Hyde Park campus.

Comer Children’s Hospital does treat children who are victims of trauma and other emergencies, but the University of Chicago is not designated as a trauma center for adults.

Activists believe the lack of adult emergency care at the hospital often results in loss of life with shooting victims not getting life-saving treatment in time as they travel to more distant hospitals.

Stop shooting each other. Red bandanas shoot the blue bandanas and there is a retaliatory shooting by the blue criminals. It makes zero sense.

Gun violence is so senseless, but innocent people are being shot in the crossfire call collateral damage..these victims should not die..they should not die due to lack of emergent health care..if U of C cannot meet this need, then an alternative should be explored.
