chicagobeachIt may be a little too chilly for a dip in the lake, but Chicago’s beaches are now open for the season.

Fittingly as the beach season begins it’s also been dubbed “Don’t Fry Day.”

The beaches will be open Friday, May 24 through Labor Day, September 3.

Swimming hours are from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

If you’re going to be out in the sunshine, the National Council On Skin Cancer Prevention is reminding you to protect your skin.

The council recommends you wear a shirt, hat and sunglasses.

You should also slather on sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher.
