A Chicago police officer was grabbed and thrown during a traffic stop on the city’s South Side.

The incident happened just after 9 p.m. Monday.

The officer had pulled over a car for a traffic violation on the 83rd block of South Kerfoot Avenue in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood.

Police say when the officer approached the vehicle, the female driver grabbed her bulletproof vest, drove off and flung her to the ground.

The vehicle crashed moments later and the driver was arrested.

The officer was taken to Northwestern Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was released Tuesday morning.
