Power washers help police during fiery crash

A group of good Samaritans helped emergency officials douse a truck that erupted in flames and rescue the driver during a crash this afternoon in Elk Grove.

According to the Elk Grove Police Dept, around 2:30 p.m. today, a two trucks collided at the intersection of Thorndale Ave and Lively Blvd.

A witness says a fire started in one of the trucks ked and police officers attempted to put the fire out.

That attempt was unsuccessful and nearby workers who were power washing a building helped to extinguish the vehicle and pull the driver to safety.

One of the drivers was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  He was also issued a citation for disobeying a traffic signal.

The second driver was not injured.
