Man, 21, killed in Englewood related to longtime activist

A relative of a longtime community activist was shot to death in the Englewood neighborhood.

Ronald Baskin, 21, was visiting his great-grandmother on at her home near 65th and South Green for Mother’s Day.

As he drove away someone started shooting.

Baskin was shot in the neck and died at the scene.

He was the great-nephew of Hal Baskin, who’s been a community activist for 40 years.

Hal Baskin says Ronald was not in a gang and he did not know what may have motivated the shooting.
