The youngest mayor in the northwest suburbs, and one of the youngest in the country, was sworn in as mayor of Des Plaines.

Former alderman Matt Bogusz, 26, was elected last month after beating former mayor Tony Arredia, 75, and alderman Mark Walsten, 55.

Bogusz said age was not a factor in the election.

His campaign focused on improving government efficiency and smarter spending.
