Cyber attacks have had a record impact on US banks this year.

Online security company Keynote Systems says cyber attacks forced bank websites offline for 249 hours during six weeks, in February and March.

U.S. banks are also being warned to watch for compromised customer accounts, after hackers stole $9 million from accounts in Europe during a single attack last year.

The money was stolen from ATMs in 46 cities, and the hackers often struck late on Fridays.
