No charges will be be filed in that fatal accident earlier this month involving a school bus in Lake County.

Dozens of school children were hurt on April 6 when the bus collided with two jeep vehicles west of Zion at State Highway 173 and Kilbourne Road.

Philip Smith, 62, of Beach Park was killed in the accident. He was driving one of the jeeps.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office says it found evidence of prescription drugs in Smith’s system but would not name the prescription drug itself.

The bus was taking students to the Newport School in Wadsworth that morning.
