Man charged in Northwest Side attacks

A man from Forest Park is in custody in connection with two attacks against women on the Northwest Side in early April.

41-year-old Antonio Nettles Antonio Lamont Nettles, 41, of the 7500 block of South Harvard in Forest Park, is charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault, aggravated robbery, kidnapping — force or threat, and attempted kidnapping, police said.

Nettles allegedly attacked two different women on the morning of  April 13, near Belmont and Oak Park – between about 9:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. He robbed one woman, and sexually assaulted the other, police said. Both women were treated at area hospitals for their injuries.

Nettles was arrested after authorities received several tips, when a police-issued community alert was posted on Facebook.

Bail was set at $500,000 Friday and Nettles was scheduled to return to court May 15.
