She did the right thing. She is the one who got hurt. Because you are a police officer dose not give you the right to break the law make it sound like she is the bad one here. SO IT IS UP TO THE COURTS.Not us

How quickly we forget. This is very similar to the case last year when the female bartender refused to serve more drinks to an off-duty cop who was becoming belligerent. He was caught on the security cam after he went around the bar and started kicking & punching the bartender. Even with the tape, the cops tried to bully her into dropping it. The tape showed the cop throwing her around like a rag doll while grabbing her by the hair, punching her, and kicking her. None of the other patrons intervened. Yes, she has a right to work at an hourly wage job and receive tips without being assaulted. Especially went it's by a cop.

Chicago political and police "CRIME" at it's best…. same old -same old – Things will never change in Chicago, as long as things like this happen, and it's considered OK and right – when clearly it is NOT. Someone is going to have to have the B##ls to step up and make things right…Corruption is rampant and the normal way of life in Chicago…and the city and its politicians are made fun of on cable TV – – all the time…additionally – our crime rate is in the news. We are clearly a 'laughing stock'~

If its on the news or the Internet…it must be true. Three sides to every story. If it happened a year ago and we are just hearing about it now that is a bit suspicious.

Thats whats wrong with these policeman they figure they have the badge they can abuse the people just like the gangbangers, there is no difference.

It is possible to sue the city in this case. Take a look at the nice settlement recently won by the bartender who was beaten (on tape) by an OFF DUTY Chicago cop. The bartender got millions, which she deserved.

yeah you should see what they do when they integrate you… i've learned first hand trust me they get the answer they want

Hey Joe, YOU must be the drunken cop who threw the bottle! Ms. Cafferata has a REAL job. What's the shame of being a bartender? She's working, isn't she? The shame is a drunken, Chicago police officer throwing a beer bottle at a woman's head, and then a police sergeant trying to stop her from filing a charge. I hope she gets double what she's asking for in her lawsuit. Women are "mad as hell and won't take it any more" when it comes to abusive, disrespectful, or violent men.

    Cook County.
The only county in the entire USA where jurors award people money for LYING.

Despicable. If this broad wants a few million maybe she should go get herself an education and a real fricking job. Yeccch.

FYI…I could file a lawsuit tomorrow claiming that I was anywhere and someone did something to me. That is the right of the people in these United States. Before people decide which party is at fault why don't you all sit back and see what unfolds. After what happened with Abbate do you really think that the CPD and the internal investigation unit would ignore this type of accusation for a year? There is no conspiracy as two police officers are not worth the risk of an entire department. Keep in mind all parties in this situation have families and reputations and neither should be blasted through the media as the media will NEVER report the whole story. So everyone RELAX.

So since it is an Officer, this gets blasted by the media. Yet how many times have you been in a bar, and seen this happen. I have seen plenty of people be flat out rude to bartenders, and the bartenders do nothing. But now that it is a CPD Officer, they say something and feel like they will get all of the support of the community. Why did she wait almost a year to file a lawsuit? The whole story and truth will come out. And for all of you who are flat out bashing this city and the people who protect it. Then leave!!! Sure, corruption exists, bad cops exist, good cops exist. It is the same in every city. And if you don't like it, then please, do us all a favor and leave. I am proud to call myself a Chicagoan. I am proud to say that I have plenty of friends and family that serve this city, and this country, in various ways. Just remember, the next time you call 911, or ask an officer for assistance, that they are the ones who will protect you and your loved ones. We are all human beings, and people make mistakes. Including myself and everyone who has made a comment on this page. Good day.
