Leaders in film, media, business and philanthropy gathered at the Chicago Theatre tonight to remember movie critic Roger Ebert, a Chicago icon whose half-century career united those fields.

Ebert’s widow, Chaz, hosted the event along with her children and grandchildren.

Guests included John and Joan Cusack, Christie Hefner and Marlene Siskel, the wife of Ebert’s late television partner, Gene.

Next week, Champaign-Urbana will serve as the site of Ebertfest for the fifteenth straight year. Ebert programmed the film festival before his death last week.
