Open Heart Magic: Volunteer magicians visit hospitalized children

This is an archived article and the information in the article may be outdated. Please look at the time stamp on the story to see when it was last updated.

Since 2003, the non-profit Open Heart Magic has been visiting children at Chicago area hospitals. Volunteer magicians, most of which had no experience before joining the program, bring a smile to kids with all kinds of tricks. Before they leave, they’re sure to teach each patient a trick of their own, so they can perform for their families and friends.

It was a joy to watch these volunteer magicians at work, visiting young patients at Lurie Children’s Hospital on a Tuesday evening. This Friday they’re having a fundraiser, some VIP tickets are still available HERE. If you’d like to volunteer to become a magician (again, NO experience is required, they’ll train you), you can find all of the information you need to do that HERE.

My feature will air on the WGN News at Five. It will be posted here after the show.
