Thousands hit the streets for the Shamrock Shuffle

The Shamrock Shuffle took place in Chicago Sunday morning.

About 40,000 people turned out for the 8K course that started and finished in Grant Park.  The route mirrors part of the Chicago Marathon route. Numerous downtown streets were closed for several hours to accommodate the course.

The race had to be re-routed at one point because a man was threatening to jump from the State Street bridge.  Police closed off that part of the race’s route and remained on the scene  at 8:30 a.m., about the time the race was scheduled to start in Grant Park.
