Medical ResearchYet another source for stem cells — the human gut!

For the first time, scientists harvested viable stem cells from gut tissue.

Not only does this open the door for treating bowel diseases, but the discovery may also help doctors find ways to alleviate side effects of radiation and chemotherapy which often wreak havoc on the intestines.

And doctors say they plan to study ways to genetically modify the cells to cure fetal genetic disorders.

How can I get information regarding the study of Harvesting Stem Cells from the Gut mentioned above? I heard the end of the story this evening, Thursday, 8-21-14. I have been extremely ill with several autoimmune disorders since I was 6 months old. I am the 35 year old mother of a 12 year old daughter, soon to be wife, and need to see doctors with more experience who are actually studying how to cure autoimmune disease, or at least treat the diseases optimally. I appreciate any info. Thank you.
