Des Plaines man charged in dumbbell battery

A man from Des Plaines was arrested after he allegedly broke into another man’s home and beat him with a ten-pound dumbbell.

Nicholas Ungureanu, 21, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and home invasion.

According to police, Ungureanu and another suspect broke into the victim’s home in Elk Grove Village on Monday.

He reportedly beat the victim with the dumbbell because the victim was dating Ungureanu’s ex-girlfriend.

The man was treated and released at a nearby hospital.

Police are still looking for the other suspect in the incident.
