McHenry County prosecutors want a man from Woodstock to stay in jail, while he awaits trial for sexually assaulting five women he met through Craigslist.

Charles Oliver, 44, was first arrested in January and charged with attacking three women he met through Craigslist.

Police said Oliver assaulted the women in his home after meeting them through online personal ads. One of the women said Oliver locked her in a basement room and refused to let her leave, according to the criminal complaint.

“One of the women came forward, claimed he had raped her and felt she was being stalked by him, and that is how it all unfolded,” said Sgt. Charles Amati, of the Woodstock Police Department.

Oliver was re-arrested in February after two more victims came forward.

Prosecutors say he’s a threat to the community and they want him kept in jail until his trial.

They have moved to revoke his $150,000 bond and will appear before a judge today.

Authorities are investigating the possibility of additional victims. Anyone with information is asked to call Woodstock police at 815-338-2131.
