breast-cancerA rising number of younger women are being diagnosed with advanced breast cancer.

A study in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that over the past three decades, the incidence of advanced breast cancer has gone up by about two percent among American women age 25 to 39.

There were progressively smaller increases in older women, and no statistically significant increase among women over 55.

Doctors say early detection is key, so it’s important for young women to do a monthly breast self-exam and get checked out right away if they find a lump.
