Skilling: Wintry mix to heavy late day snow

Tom Skilling has the latest on Chicago areas Winter Weather Advisory.

Snow is breaking out across much of the  Chicago area just before noon as a major late-winter storm moves into the area.

The snow is heavy in many areas, falling at blinding intensities  that are dropping the visibility to ½ mile or less.

The snow is sticking and travel conditions are rapidly deteriorating.

The snow is expected to continue into tonight with accumulations of 3-7 inches or more expected.

Some areas reporting snow:

  • Bloomingdale
  • Streamwood
  • Elmhurst
  • Kankakee
  • Morris
  • Elburn
  • Rolling Meadows
  • Geneva
  • Joliet
