State senator Napoleon Harris drops out of the race for Jesse Jackson Jr’s former congressional seat.

While making that  announcement today, Harris also endorsed Robin Kelly for the job.

Harris did not say why he was taking himself out of the race, only that he is committed to continue fighting for better education, more jobs and getting guns off the streets.

The field for the 2nd congressional seat remains crowded though, with more than 20 candidates still in the running.
