Four people are in the hospital after a fire in the city’s South Austin neighborhood.

That fire happened at 1053 North Leamington, early Tuesday morning.

A woman is in serious to critical condition after she jumped from the second floor.

Two teenage girls and a man are in fair to serious condition.

The fire started in the rear of one building and caused minor damage to the home next door.

“There was heavy smoke coming out of the front side of the building.  Heavy fire on the rear porches,” said Deputy Dist. Chief Don Hroma.  “They extinguished the rear porches.. and knocked the fire down rather quickly.”

Seven adults and two children were displaced.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Fire officials say the building did not have any gas service.
