Chicago’s Very Own Melissa McCarthy on new movie ‘Identify Theft’

One of WGN’s favorite hometown girls who’s been the hit of Hollywood for the past couple of years, Melissa McCarthy talked to entertainment critic Dean’s Richard about latest project.

The pride of Plainfield, Illinois,  McCarthy of “Mike and Molly” fame scored an Emmy award last year and was nominated for an Oscar for her role in “Bridesmaids.”

Now, she’s starring in her own new movie with Jason Bateman “Identity Thief” in which she’s an obsessed cyber-criminal.

With Richards, McCarthy talked about her career, the new movie and about one day showing her children around her hometown.

The movie opens on February 8th.

    She is a very lucky woman. I am from Plainfield, IL as well and I'm 22. I tried getting into the acting business and found myself in the Army. I got stationed in Alaska and I am still here in Alaska. I just want to say to Melissa, don't ever forget where you came from. There are too many people in our society who end up making it big and forget the town their from.
