Four shootings — two of them double homicides — and a stabbing left 7 people dead Saturday, authorities said.

The killings brought the number of homicides in 2013 to 40.

In what appeared to be the last homicide of the day, a 32-year-old man was fatally stabbed about 11:50 p.m. in the South Shore neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

The stabbing happened during a domestic argument in the 2500 block of East 73rd Street, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.

The man, identified by the Cook County medical examiner’s office as Willie Wilson of the 2500 block of East 73rd Street, was found unresponsive on the scene. He was pronounced dead there at 11:55 p.m. with a stab wound to the chest.

Less than two hours earlier, about 10:05 p.m., a 38-year-old man was killed in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, making him the sixth person shot dead Saturday, police said.

The man, identified as Norman Stokes, of the 6700 block of S. Aberdeen Street, died on the scene, in a vacant building in the 7000 block of South Carpenter Street, Gaines said.

Earlier, in the second double homicide of the day, a 16-year-old boy and a 32-year-old man were gunned down about 5 p.m. in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side, police said.

Officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 4200 block of West Congress Parkway and found the two lying dead outside on the ground, according to the police.

The Cook County medical examiner identified the two as Dimitri Buford, 32, of the 1400 block of North Sedgwick Street in Chicago, and Antonio Fenner, 16, of the 4400 block of of W. 15th Street in Chicago.

No one has been arrested.

Police had the crime scene near Genevieve Melody Elementary School taped off at least one block to the north, east and west, while neighbors milled about to get a better look.

On West Van Buren Street, a body could be seen lying in the roadway, near the curb and a bus stop.

A man who only identified himself as the teen victim’s uncle said the boy, whose family lived nearby, had simply gone to run an errand.

“He was just going to the store,” the man said. “They just killed him just like that.”

Later, the man paced back and forth on the sidewalk, shaking his head in disbelief.

“He goes to school and everything,” he said to a police officer.

This man and the boy were the 4th and 5th people killed Saturday, and the shooting was the city’s second double homicide.

Looks like it wasn't guns that killed some of the people THIS weekend. Knives will also do the trick. Seems like the "people" in charge of this city want the guns to be taken away( at least certain ones) are they forgetting what makes the guns fire? Seems like to me we need to hit the gangs and the other criminals where it counts.. Prison time. Say life when you kill someone. Instead of these bleeding heart liberals who think its inhumane to give life without parole or even the death penalty anymore. I guarantee you if te criminals got any real time behind bars.. There would be less eagerness to do the crimes..

Guns are basically safe. You can leave a gun on the table and it will never fire. The person holding it is what makes it a threat to lives. Cons and irresponsible people should never have access to guns. Moreover, civilians should only be allowed to possess guns inside the safety of their homes.
