There’s been a lot of press about the Bibles President Obama used in his two swearing in ceremonies – the Obama family Bible, a Bible carried by Martin Luther King Jr. and a third, used by Abraham Lincoln on his inauguration.

Not to be outdone, Vice President Joe Biden used a massive Bible that caught many people’s eyes/

According to New York Magazine the gigantic Bible is also a family heirloom for the Bidens.  It bears a “a Celtic cross that’s been in his family since 1893.”

Time Magazine reported on it during the last inauguration saying, “According to the inaugural committee, the book is five inches thick and adorned with a Celtic cross on the cover. But it’s not a surprising choice — he used it every time he was sworn in as a U.S. senator and again when he was first sworn in as veep in 2009. Biden’s son, Beau, also used the bible when he was sworn in as Delaware’s attorney general.”
