The band director at Libertyville High School has been fired for having an “inappropriate physical relationship” with a former student.

District 128 officials voted unanimously on Monday to fire Jeff Daeschler.

In a letter to parents, district officials say the relationship happened several years ago.

The girl was 18 when the relationship occurred so police say no criminal charges were filed.

Daeschler had been on paid leave since November, when the allegations surfaced and officials launched an investigation.

He has not commented publicaly on his firing.

Daeschler was hired at Libertyville High School in 2010, after serving as band director for Stagg High School in Palos Hills and Rantoul Township High School.  He also taught at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
