A 28-year-old man refuses to give up his dogs, despite the fact that he’s charged with animal abuse.

Jarcivius Taylor appeared in court on several charges Saturday, including aggravated cruelty to animals.

After receiving that Taylor was mistreating animals, police executed a search warrant at his home in the 12800 block of South Green Street in the West Pullman neighborhood, the Chicago Police Department announced in a release.

Inside the home, police found two pitbulls, one male and one female, who appeared to have been mistreated. They also discovered unregistered guns, and $1,500 in cash.

The female dog reportedly had scars consistent with dog fighting and injuries so severe, it may have to be euthanized.

Animal control has filed a petition to take ownership of the dogs.
