Eight people have been arrested after police busted a dog fighting ring in the south suburbs.

Dolton police received a tip about the operation taking place on the 1500 block of E. 142nd Street.

When officers showed up Wednesday night, people ran from the building.

Police say there was a makeshift ring at the site and the 10 dogs they found showed signs of abuse and dog fighting injuries.

Police were notified by a citizen who called to issue a complaint.
