The Chicago Cubs have ended their search for a new color analyst.

The team hired former Houston Astros broadcaster Jim Deshaies to pair with play-by-play man Len Kasper.

Deshaies had worked as the Astros color man since 1997.

He pitched for 12 seasons in the Major Leagues, seven for the Astros.

Deshaies replaces Bob Brenly, who left the Cubs booth after eight seasons to be the color analyst for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

“Quite frankly, a lot of my friends in this business are jealous I got this job,” said Deshaies in a Cubs press conference introducing him Wednesday morning.

Deshaies beat out former Cubs players Dan Plesac, Todd Hollandsworth and Eric Karros for the position.
