There was a dense fog advisory for the Chicago area through 8 a.m. Monday.

The low visibility caused problems for commuters in the downtown area, and the fog was thicker away from Lake Michigan.

Arriving flights at O’Hare are experiencing 35 minute delays, and arriving flights at Midway are delayed an average of 40 minutes. Airport officials recommend passengers check with their airlines as the weather may cause delays throughout the day.

As the fog lifts Monday morning, we will see more of the unseasonably warm temperatures.

There is a chance we could hit 70 degrees today — making it just the third 70-degree December day since record-keeping began in Chicago more than 140 years .
