Join WGN-TV News as a Producer specializing in newscasts for our 24-hour cable channel, CLTV.  You’ll be responsible for several hours of news each day, produced in a unique format that uses all the modern technologies.  You’ll have creative control of your newscast under the overall direction of the CLTV Senior Producer.  You’ll also be responsible for work on our website, mobile, social media technologies.

Position requires an individual with experience writing and producing television newscasts.  You’ll need to demonstrate strong news judgment and the ability to work well with others.

Responsible for; designing, developing and customizing IT based software and related systems for broadcast operations; providing support to other team members to resolve software based problems;  participating  in work flow development and assisting with software component portions.

Responsible for ensuring the daily satisfactory operation of the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, mechanical, electrical distribution, plumbing, and life safety systems at Bradley Place. Requires a minimum of 7 years of building engineering experience with increasing supervisory and/or management responsibility in a high rise or industrial facility. Must be able to handle physical demands of the position and be available to handle emergency calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Attention to detail and follow-up as well as excellent customer service and trouble shooting skills are necessary.

Working with the Midday News team, the duties include, but are not limited to: guest and show research, helping coordinate and book guest appearances, floor directing and updating the website. Interns may be called upon to field produce and will have an opportunity to shadow reporters in the field. Interns will also work closely with the segment producer, as well as show producers and executive producer. Mature and professional conduct expected.

Undergraduate (junior/senior standing) or graduate students attending an accredited college or university majoring in Broadcasting/Communications/Journalism or related field of study.  Students must be able to obtain college credit for the internship experience  (Internships are unpaid). Hours 8am-2pm 2/3 days per week.

Department: Production

Responsibilities: The Sports Production Intern will have the opportunity to work closely with Producers/Directors at all of our Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, and Chicago Bulls home telecasts.

Specifically, duties will include assisting the Producer/Director with any pre and post-game player interviews, distribution of line-ups/stats sheets and assisting the talent in the broadcast booth. They will also have the opportunity to view first hand what it takes to successfully broadcast a live professional sporting event while becoming familiar with the various crew positions/tasks.

When not at a game, the intern will be spend their hours at WGN-TV studios. They will assist with dubbing and screening of tapes, general office duties and have the opportunity to observe many of our in-house broadcasts.

Production Internship

Department: Production

Responsibilities: Intern will assist in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. Including, but not limited to, assisting with pre-production work for various live remotes (parades, telethons, special events) organizing and maintaining the stations Public Service announcement files, screening and dubbing tapes, maintaining the departments tape library and helping with general office duties i.e copying, filing, etc….

The candidate must be an undergraduate (junior/senior standing) or graduate student attending an accredited University. Must be able to obtain college credit for the internship. Candidates must be reliable, organized, and possess excellent writing and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in word and excel helpful. Some webpage maintenance experience also helpful. A writing test will be required.
