Police in far north suburban Zion are interviewing guests at a weekend party where gunfire erupted, killing a 15-year-old high school student and wounding a woman.

A 15-year-old was shot and killed at a Halloween party in Zion early Sunday morning.

Adarius Green was at a party at a house in the 2400 block of Gilboa Ave.  Police say more than 100 people were at the party and many of them were older teens.

Officers responded to the call of shots fired just before 1 a.m. Sunday.  When they arrived on scene people were pouring out of the home, running in the street and the sidewalk and alley.

Cornell Fort was at the party and says everything happened really fast. First, people inside were pushing and shoving, while dancing to music and he believes that may have escalated into a fight that spilled out of the house.

Adarius  was a sophomore at Zion high school.

“Adarius was a good kid. He loved sports. He was a typical teenager,” said Katherine Jones, a family friend. “He lost his life to nonsense.”

“He loved everybody  and he never expected nothing like this to happen,” said Fort.  “He wanted to come back and do something positive and be a basketball player.”

A 26-year-old woman was also injured. She was treated and released from the hospital.

Zion police and Lake County major crime taskforce are investigating.
