DNA tests have confirmed, a body found in the woods in Vernon Hills last Thursday is that of Nicholas Steward.

Steward vanished September 20 on his way home to Lake Villa from work in Wood Dale.

Steward’s car was found in an apartment building parking lot, not far from where his body was discovered.

Investigators don’t suspect foul play.

They say the only injuries they found on steward’s body, were cuts to his wrists and arms.

DNA test results, due out today, are expected to confirm that a body found Thursday night in Vernon Hills is that of a man who vanished two weeks ago in Lake Villa.

The body was found in the woods, not far from Nicholas Steward’s car, which had been left in an apartment parking lot.

Investigators say it appears the man died around the time Steward disappeared.

DNA tests will positively identify the remains of a man from Lake Villa, which were found in Vernon Hills Thursday night.

Police believe the remains are that of 33-year old Nicholas Steward who disappeared two weeks ago.  That’s because personal identification was found at the scene.

They also say they believe his death may have been a suicide.

Steward’s car was found Thursday at an apartment complex in Vernon Hills.  He had cuts to his wrists and upper left arm.

The DNA results may be available by Monday.

Lake County police have discovered a body in a wooded area less than a mile from where a missing Lake Villa man’s car was found.

They are awaiting official identification from the Lake County Coroner’s office.

Police say they have reason to believe the remains are that of 33-year-old Nick Steward based on personal items that were discovered on or near the body.

Steward was last seen Friday, September 20.

Thursday, a police officer in Vernon Hills found Steward’s white Saturn Aura while checking out a report of an unrelated disturbance.

His Saturn was located tonight by a police officer who was on an unrelated call.

The search for Steward continues tonight because authorities fear the bad weather could slow progress.

More than 150 volunteers fanned out over 225 square miles Sunday searching for clues in the disappearance of a Lake Villa man.

They searched from Wood Dale to Lake Villa on the route Nicholas Steward, 33, was taking from work to home on Friday, September 20th. That was the last day anyone has seen or heard from him.

He was driving a 2008 white Saturn Aura.  Around 5:30 pm, relatives say his I-Pass transponder and cell phone registered northbound on Interstate-294 at the Touhy Toll Plaza. His cell phone died and has not been turned on since.  Financial records show no activity and it’s unclear exactly where he exited the highway.

“We don’t know where he got off,” said Nick’s father, Don Steward. “That’s why the grid system today takes into account Wood Dale to Lake Villa because we really don’t know where he made it past the Touhy Avenue Plaza, which was the last time his I-pass pinged.”

Steward’s relatives and friends say they are grateful for support from the community and all of the volunteers who donned green ribbons to search and hand out fliers.

Family and friends of Nick Steward are organizing a search party in Lake Forest Sunday afternoon.

Steward, 33, was last seen on September 20th,  driving a white, 2008 Saturn with the Illinois license plate No. 563 7543.

His I-PASS recorded him heading north on the Tri-State tollway.

Family members say he was on his way home when he may have stopped at a gas station to buy cigarettes.

According to Patch.com, the search party will meet at noon at 26125 N. Riverwoods Blvd., Lake Forest. They’ll meet on the top deck of the parking garage on the south side of the CDW building.
