Mayor Daley’s doctors say he’ll stay at Northwestern Memorial Hospital until the middle of the week at least.

The doctors still haven’t determined what caused the former mayor to get sick and feel disoriented on a business trip to Arizona.

An ambulance met him at the airport when he returned Friday.

He is said to be alert and in good spirits.

People in Chicago are sending along their best wishes.

Daley has had other health issues in the past, including the diagnosis of an irregular heartbeat several years ago.

He never had a physical exam during his last 10 years as mayor.

For a third straight night former mayor Richard M. Daley has been undergoing test after test at northwestern memorial hospital.

It is still unclear what happened to the 71 year old Friday when he was a attending a business meeting in Arizona, but he felt ill and was disoriented–his family persuaded the former mayor to go from the airport straight to the hospital to be checked out.

Now the city and the people he led for 22 years are passing along their sincere best wishes.

Daley who fell ill on the same day his nephew pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter–is said to be resting comfortably surrounded by his family.  

The former mayor has had some health issues in the past including the diagnoses of an irregular heartbeat several years ago.  

A spokesperson for the mayor says he is expected to remain in the hospital until midweek.

 

Senator Dick Durbin, is just one of many Chicagoans who sent get well wishes to former Mayor Daley today.

“My thoughts and prayers are with him,” Said Durbin, “pulling for him, he’s a tough cookie and he will bounce back.”

Daley, was hospitalized at Northwestern Friday evening after returning home from a business trip in Arizona.   He told family members he was feeling ill and went directly to the hospital from the airport.   He has since undergone several tests and will continue to remain in the hospital until midweek, according to a family spokesperson.

He was able to walk off the plane, and an ambulance met him at O’Hare Airport. He was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and remains in the ICU while tests are being done, Jasculca said.

Jasculca did not have an exact time on when Daley was admitted.

The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting Daley was experiencing stroke-like symptoms before he got on the plane, but was still cleared to fly.

Daley’s family is with him at the hospital.
