They lost three straight in Atlanta and enter the home opener with a record of 2-4 .

Opening Day at Wrigley Field brought a few disappointments.

First, the Chicago Cubs couldn’t recover from a 4-0 first-inning deficit and lost to the Brewers, in a 7-4.

Also a deal to renovate Wrigley Field is close but well past the April 1st self-imposed deadline. A week later the parties have agreed on a hotel, office park and plaza near the ball park.  But particulars on the Jumbotron and other signage are still in the works.

Still, fans remained hopeful Monday and said the organization should do whatever it takes for the team to win a World Series.

Chicago Cubs fans flocked to Wrigley Field today for Opening Day.

Though the Cubs couldn’t recover from a 4-0 first-inning deficit and lost to the Brewers, in a 7-4. fans remain optimistic about the season.

WGN’s Marcella Raymond was at Wrigley for the fun.

The Cubs rallied in the 9th inning but came up short in the Wrigley Opener 7-4.

Edwin Jackson gave up five runs in the first two innings, including four in the first.

The Cubs headed into the 9th innning trailing 7-2 but got four straight hits to cut the lead to 7-4, but they left the bases loaded, Starlin Castro flied to the warning track in RF to end the game.

Carlos Marmol officially lost the job of closer after giving up the game-tying and game-winning home runs to the Upton brothers on Saturday. His ERA is 27.00 in just three appearances so far. Kyuji Fujikawa will now take over closing responsibilities.

The Cubs host the Milwaukee Brewers who are also off to a rough start at 1-5. Edwin Jackson will make his second start of the year against Marco Estrada. Jackson gave up two earned runs and struck out five in his first start against the Pirates.
