stats_logo_400x225* The Blackhawks have won three consecutive home games against the Predators, while holding the Predators without a power-play goal in each contest.

* The Predators, who have scored exactly four goals in back-to-back road victories, had scored fewer than four goals in each of their previous nine games.

* The Blackhawks have allowed a power-play goal in just three of their last 15 home games (9-3-3 over stretch).

* Nashville has won just two games on Friday over the last two seasons (2-7-2).

* Nick Spaling, who has scored a goal in back-to-back games for the third time this season, has never scored a goal in three consecutive NHL games.

* Patrick Kane, who has scored a goal in back-to-back games, is just one goal away from matching his career high (30 in 2009-10).

stats_logo_400x225* Colorado trails second-place Chicago by a single point in the Central Division and could jump ahead of the Blackhawks with a victory on Wednesday. The Avalanche have captured three of the first four games in this season’s series.

* The Blackhawks have won their past two games, including a 2-1 victory at Buffalo on Sunday. It was Chicago’s first one-goal win since it defeated Boston, 3-2, in a shootout on January 19.

* Jonathan Toews has totaled six goals while lighting the lamp in each of his past four games. The streak is one game shy of the longest of his career (five straight between 2/27/2011 and 3/5/2011).

* There are only two players in the league who have combined at least 100 hits, 100 blocked shots and 30 takeaways. Both should be on the ice Wednesday, as Chicago’s Brent Seabrook (136 / 109 / 30) and Colorado’s Erik Johnson (110 / 107 / 32) have each provided broad contributions.

* Semyon Varlamov has surrendered two goals or fewer while winning all three of his starts versus Chicago this season. In four games overall against the Blackhawks in 2013-14, Varlamov is 3-0-0 with a 1.47 GAA and a .963 save percentage.

* Since the 2011-12 season, only the Blues (33-6-4) have a better record against the Eastern Conference than the Blackhawks (26-6-8).

* Jonathan Toews, who has scored five goals over his last three games, has now scored at least 23 goals in each of his seven NHL seasons.

stats_logo_400x225* This will be the first game between these teams since Columbus moved out of the Central Division. The Blackhawks have won their last 11 games against the Blue Jackets, one shy of the longest active streak in any series (Boston, 12 straight wins versus Edmonton).

* The Blue Jackets defeated Dallas on Tuesday, 4-2, for their third consecutive victory. Columbus improved to 14-5-1 since January 6, the highest winning percentage (.725) in the league over that span.

* With a 4-2 loss at home to Colorado on Tuesday, the Blackhawks have lost three of their last four games (two of three since the Olympic break). Second-place Chicago (86) is two points behind the Blues (88) and one point ahead of the Avalanche (85) in the Central Division.

* Blue Jackets center Artem Anisimov registered a pair of goals on Tuesday, extending his goal-scoring streak to four games, the longest of his career. He also matched a career high with 14 faceoff wins on Tuesday.

Blackhawks Extra: Soldier Field

As we prepare for another winter storm, Soldier Field is preparing for outdoor hockey.

The rink is ready for the Blackhawks’ historic first game at the home of the Chicago Bears.

The puck drops at 7 p.m. as part the of the NHL’s “Stadium Series” that started this year.

Tickets have been sold out since they went on sale in December.

The stadium underwent a huge transformation in preparation for the game in conditions that have proved to be of all things, too cold, for an ice rink.

NHL regulations insist that the rink be kept at a cool 22 degrees on the surface and workers had to blanket the ice, literally, to warm up the rink and get it up to standard.

The game will be televised nationally on NBC and the Plain White T’s have been added to the festivities at Soldier Field.
