A 17-year-old boy is facing over a dozen charges in the crash that killed a man on his birthday.

On Tuesday night, Eugene Ratliff was running an errand with two friends, when all three were hit by a speeding car while crossing the street in the 8300 block of South Blackstone.

Ratliff died an hour later.

He just turned 32-years-old that day.

The other two victims are recovering.

The 17-year-old driver of the car that hit them tried to run away, but police caught him.

He was charged with reckless homicide with a motor vehicle, aggravated fleeing a crash causing bodily injury, aggravated DUI causing a death, aggravated DUI causing bodily harm,  of leaving the scene of an accident that left someone injured or dead, possession of cannabis, speeding, driving without a license or insurance and failure to obey three stop signs.

He was charged as an adult and is due in bond court today.

Chicago police would not release the boy’s name.

Police arrested a driver suspected of hitting three pedestrians killing one of them.

Eugene Ratliff turned 32-years-old on Tuesday.

He and two other people were hit by a car as they stood on the corner Tuesday night near 83rd and South Blackstone on the South Side.

Ratliff died at the hospital.

A 31-year old woman is hospitalized in stable condition and another man has been released from the hospital.

The car jumped the curb and ran into the porch of a home nearby.

The homeowner says he looked outside after hearing three loud bumps.

The driver of the Jetta was traveling southbound on Blackstone at a high rate of speed when he struck three people, police said.
