Tim_McGillTim McGill is weather director for CLTV as well as part of the WGN-TV Weather Center Team. He has been part of CLTV since its launch in 1993.

Prior to WGN-TV, Tim worked for WHSV-TV in Harrisonburg, Virginia and WCTI-TV in New Bern, North Carolina. He also worked briefly for the National Weather Service in Romeoville.

Tim holds the AMS Seal of Broadcasting, and in 2005 he earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation, a professional recognition for the quality of his weather broadcasts.

Along with working for WGN-TV and CLTV, Tim has taught weather courses at area colleges for the past 15 years. He currently teaches at Columbia College and Roosevelt University.

In 1994, he was awarded for his achievements when he won an Emmy for his work on a CLTV tornado special titled, “Season of Fear.” Tim is now teaching at Columbia College.

Tim is very active in the community, for the last 10 years he has volunteered at the Victory Lakes Assisted Living Retirement Center in Lake Villa. Tim and his wife have taken youth groups from their church on 10 short-term mission trips. 5 of those trips have been to the Navajo Nation in New Mexico to work with Native Americans.  They have traveled to Arkansas, Mexico, and the Bahamas where they worked with refugees, built homes and educated children. Tim also hosted several Cystic Fibrosis telethons while working in North Carolina.

Tim attended the University of Illinois and received his degree in Meteorology from Northern Illinois University.
