Greetings Ms. Unruh,
Please help. I am attempting to start and promote a petition concerning the National Driver's Registry accepting outdated information from State DMV offices. I am a former Chicago resident and I received a questionable fine for having an expired driver's permit when I was 19. The fine happened in 1983 and was cancelled in 1983 because it was not accurate. There was no mention of any other fees needed. Later, I obtained an Illinois Driver's License and had such for years and there was no mention of this reinstatement fee. I now live in South Carolina and my license has been threatened for a reinstatement fee that is almost 30 years old; Illinois DMV had years to request this fee as I renewed my license and as my license was checked every time there was a question. I am almost 50 and will pay the fee to save my license; however, I feel that this system needs to be changed. Would you please help me to lobby to have a statue of limitation placed on the National Driver's Registry concerning the age of the information that this agency accepts? I have opened a petition on the Whitehouse website below but need 100k petitions but there is no way to achieve such without help: https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/state-d…
Ms. Unruh, I sincerely appreciate any assistance you can provide concerning the politics of the matter. I can provide additional information at your request.
