Bio
Dolly McCarthy is an award-winning journalist who joined CLTV as an anchor in August 2011. Dolly began her career as a news writer, producer and anchor at WCIU-TV, Chicago. Prior to CLTV, she worked at NCTV17 in Naperville as an anchor, reporter and political host. Dolly is thrilled to be back in her hometown of Chicago anchoring for WGN’s sister station.
Dolly was born and raised on Chicago’s northwest side as one of 14 children. She is a proud alum of St. Ferdinand grade school, Mother Theodore Guerin high school and Northern Illinois University where she received a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism.
Dolly is actively involved in many charitable organizations including The Duchene Muscular Dystrophy Association, 360 Youth Services, P.A.D.S. and the Community Career Center. Dolly is also a frequent speaker and emcee for many fundraising events including the American Cancer Society, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Naperville Women’s Club, Naperville Cultural Center, 360 Youth Services, Naperville Independent Film Festival, 630 Fashion Show, Rally For Ryan/Duchene Muscular Dystrophy, DuPage Children’s Museum, Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, Trinity Academy of Irish Dance and host of Naperville’s St. Patrick’s Day parade.
