    Downer’s Grove police to auction off unclaimed items

    Downer’s Grove police are auctioning off dozens of unclaimed items that have been sitting at their station. Three dozen bicycles, golf clubs, a tennis racket, scooter and skateboard are among the items being sold. They will list them on propertyroom.com and most of the bids will start at $1. Residents have until August 22nd to inquire about any unclaimed items before they go up for auction.

    A young Mississippi girl, thought to be the first child cured of the HIV virus, is infected with the disease after all. The child was born prematurely to a mother infected with the virus.     Churches across Chicago are offering training programs to teach their congregations about mental illness. The “Mental Health First Aid” program will use role-playing and simulations to demonstrate how to respond to a mental health crisis.     FDA: Oral numbing medicine for babies may cause serious injury, even death

    The Food and Drug Administration issued a warning against using over-the-counter oral numbing medications in children and babies. The gum-numbing medications contain local anesthetic ingredient’s that can lead to overdoses, causing serious injury in teething babies and toddlers, and may even lead to death, officials said.     Chicago Police are looking for the person who shot and killed a man in the River West Neighborhood. The 34-year-old man was in a car that hit a pole in the 1200 block of West Chicago Avenue just after midnight, police said.
