    CAMBRIDGE, Ma — Harvard police are investigating a hate crime after portraits of its African-American professors were defaced. Students at the law school discovered someone putting strips of black tape over the images. Authorities say they consider it an act of hate. The black tape on the portraits was eventually removed and replaced by notes of encouragement. No charges have been filed.

    PALATINE, Texas — We’re learning more about the murder of six people at a campsite in Texas. An elderly woman survived the mass murder by hiding in the woods for several hours before calling police for help. The woman was camping on private property, with her husband, daughter, grandson and three others this weekend, in a rural area southeast of Dallas. William Hudson has been charged in the murders. Authorities are still trying to determine the motive for killings.

    CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. — A man in Crystal Lake is accused of squeezing a kitten to death. Police 18 year old Axel Salemi killed a seven week old cat with his bare hands. It happened at his home, which also serves as a rescue shelter for kittens. Salemi faces charges of animal cruelty and criminal damage to a domesticated animal.

    WALLER COUNTY, Texas — New details are emerging about the death of Sandra Bland. Jail officials in Texas say she killed herself in a jail cell because nobody posted bail for her.
