    A semi truck crashed and caught fire on the inbound Kennedy at Division around 4:06 a.m. Inbound lanes at Division were closed for about an hour and twenty minutes this morning but reopened around 5:25 a.m. The driver of the semi was not injured. The truck contained mail.  

  • Wrong-way driver crashes into semi truck in overnight Kennedy crash

    A mini van going the wrong way on the Kennedy collided head-on with a semi truck this morning. The accident happened around 12:45 a.m when the mini van driver entered Interstate 90/94 at North Avenue and drove southbound in the northbound lanes Illinois State Police said.   • 3-year-old girl found dead inside Northwest Side home

    A person of interest is being questioned involving the death of a 3-year old girl. Chicago Police responded to a home in the 3300 block of N. Natchez Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Sunday night and discovered the girl dead inside police said. Police are releasing few details but are investigating the death as a homicide.   • Child injured in extra alarm fire at Lake Shore Drive high-rise

    A car on fire in an underground parking garage caused an extra alarm response this morning around 3 a.m. The fire happened in the 900 block of North Lake Shore Drive,  its not clear what started the car on fire. One child was transported with minor injuries and taken to Laurie Children’s Hospital in good condition. The fire was out by 3:30 a.m. The extra alarm fire was called because the basement lacks ventilation and extra man power was needed.

  • CTA Blue Line derailment at O’Hare injures 32

    Thirty-two people were injured after a CTA Blue Line train crashed and at O’Hare International Airport around 2:55 a.m Monday. The injuries do not appear to be life threatening. It’s not clear how fast the train was moving; but it jumped a bumper at the end of the line and moved up an escalator, according to Chicago Fire Department Spokesman Larry Langford.     An off-duty Chicago Police officer was killed this morning after a police pursuit that started in Calumet Park ended in a multi-vehicle crash. Around 12:55 a.m., a white van being pursued by Calumet Park  police exited off the Dan Ryan Expressway at 87th Street and hit a 42 year-old off-duty Chicago Police officer’s black Lexus at the intersection of 87th and Lafayette Chicago Police said.     A 36-year-old clerk at a Bensenville convenience store was killed in a possible robbery attempt Sunday night. Police responded to a “report of a possible armed robbery with a shooting” at Sam’s Tobacco and Food Mart in the 200 block of Irving Park Road, according to Bensenville Police.     Three people are dead after a shooting at an Elkhart, Indiana supermarket Wednesday night. A man in his early 20’s entered a Martin’s supermarket on East Bristol Street just after 10 p.m and shot a shopper believed to be in her late teens or early 20’s and a supermarket employee in her early 40’s Sgt.     A 30-year-old man has been charged in a pair of sexual assaults. James Whiteside of the 600 block of West Deming Place was identified as the man who sexually assaulted a 69-year-old woman in the 4600 block of West 59th Street in a secured parking lot near the Orange Line at Midway Airport on Friday afternoon at 4:15 p.m. Whiteside forced her inside her vehicle, sexually assaulted her, and then robbed her according to a community alert that was issued.
