    Teen charged in murder of retired Chicago Police sergeant

    Another arrest has been made in the murder of a retired Chicago Police sergeant. A 16-year-old boy has been charged with killing Elmer Brown, 73,  during a home invasion last March. Police say the teen and two others terrorized Brown and his wife, before they shot and killed Brown. Earlier this month, Jesse Kazmierski, 18,  was also charged with the murder.     Local hospitals restrict visitors to stop spread of Enterovirus D68

    Several Chicago-area hospitals are taking precautions to stop a respiratory virus from spreading. Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Advocate Lutheran General in Park Ridge and Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood are not allowing children under 18 years old to visit patients. Adults with cold-like symptoms are not allowed to visit patients until further notice. Doctors are concerned about Enterovirus D68, or EV-D68.     Four children have been killed in a fire at an apartment building on Chicago’s Far South Side. The children’s mother, Shamaya Coleman, and her boyfriend, Nate Johnson, also were taken to the hospital in critical condition after they jumped from the burning building. The children have been identified as 16-year old Carliysia Clark, 13-year old Carlvon Clark, 12-year old  Shamarian Clark and 7-year old Eriana Smith.     Funeral arrangements for Chicago broadcasting legend Roy Leonard have been announced.   Visitation will be Friday, September 12th from 4 – 9 pm at Wm.  H. Scott Funeral Home, 1100 Greenleaf Avenue in Wilmette.     Iceland volcano erupts again, aviation warning raised to highest level

    Iceland has raised its aviation warning level after a new eruption from a fissure near the Bardarbunga volcano Sunday morning. The eruption was described as “a very calm lava eruption” which could “hardly be seen on seismometers”. Planes are now banned from flying within 6,000 feet of the volcano peak.
