    State Police investigate shooting on the Eisenhower Expressway

    The Illinois State Police is investigating an early morning shooting on the Eisenhower Expressway. It happened at about 2:30 a.m. on the inbound lanes of I-290 at Independence Boulevard. An SUV was struck several times. The driver managed to drive off the expressway to Van Buren and Kedzie.     CHICAGO — A Chicago firefighter was injured and 21 people were displaced in an extra-alarm blaze early Sunday at a three-story apartment building in Pilsen. The fire began in building in the 1900 block of South Wolcott and spread to a second building.   • Girl found in Prospect Heights forest preserve identified

    PROSPECT HEIGHTS, Ill. — A 3-year-old girl found wandering alone near a Cook cCunty forest preserve is safe with family tonight and authorities are investigating the girl’s father. Three good Samaritans found the girl crying near the intersection of Milwaukee and Palatine roads yesterday evening. The girl knew her first name, but not much else. Once her picture was released relatives came forward. Police are not talking to the girl’s father to find out how she was left all alone.
