    CHICAGO  – A new $90 million hotel will be built on Navy Pier. Construction on the five-story hotel will be begin later this year and the hotel will be ready sometime in late 2018.     EVANSTON – Evanston Police are asking for help from the public to find a man who tried to lure a 12-year-old girl into his car. It happened Saturday at about 1:40 p.m. as the girl walked in the 200 block of Main Street. She told police a man in a white SUV pulled up to her and asked the girl about the location of a coffee shop in the area. She said he also asked her to show him where the shop was located. […]

    Two firefighters injured in warehouse fire on the Southwest Side

    CHICAGO –  Two Chicago firefighters were injured in an extra-alarm fire at a mattress warehouse Saturday night on the city’s Southwest Side. The fire began around 7:40 p.m. at a four-story warehouse near South Christiana Avenue and West 48th Place and burned for about three hours. It was raised to a 3-11 alarm before firefighters put it out at about 10:45p.m. The two wounded firefighters suffered minor injuries.  They were taken to local hospitals in good condition. The fire is under investigation.

    Former President Bill Clinton to campaign in Gary today

    GARY, Ind. –  Former President Bill Clinton is campaigning in Gary  today on behalf of his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid. Bill Clinton will rally supporters and talk about his wife’s policy goals at 5 p.m.  in The Centennial Building at 504 Broadway. Earlier in the day, he is scheduled to make stops in Kokomo and Fort Wayne. Hillary Clinton campaigned Tuesday in Hammond. The former president last visited Northwest Indiana in December for a fundraiser.

    CHICAGO –  The death of a well-liked Magnificent Mile hotel bartender who died after being punched and then run over by a taxi in River North has been ruled a homicide. Marques Gaines, 32, died February 7th.  He suffered multiple injuries after being punched in the head and knocked unconscious and then run over by a taxi at State and Hubbard streets.     SAN DIEGO, Cali.  –  Dramatic surveillance footage captured the moment 17-year-old Cameron King was rescued from under his 6,000-pound truck. King was working on his truck last Wednesday when the jack holding up the Chevy Silverado tipped over and the truck to collapse on top of him. His head and shoulders were pinned in the wheel well.     Woman caught on video walking dog while driving car

    STOCKTON, Calif.  – Police in Stockton, California are trying to identify a driver who was caught on camera pulling a dog by its leash as it ran alongside her car. Amanda Brajkovich caught the scene on camera and posted the video on Facebook. In the video, you can hear Brajkovich ask the woman what she is doing.     CARBONDALE, Ill. — The Alpha Tau Omega fraternity at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale says they are not behind a racist video on YouTube. The video, titled “SIUC White is Right,” was posted Thursday by YouTube account “ATO AZO.” It uses a racial slur several times with clips from the Disney movie, “A Bug’s Life.” The video is ended by an Anonymous-like speaker attributing the message to the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity at SIUC and calling for black students to be beaten and lynched on May 2.     Rainbow colored nooses found on University campus

    CLARKSVILLE, TENN. — A university is investigating six rainbow colored nooses found on campus. Officials at Austin Peay State University say the nooses were immediately taken down yesterday by police over concerns of “hate symbolism.” According to a statement posted on social media last night the nooses were found near a building where art classes are held. Some students believe it was part of an art project but that has not been confirmed by school officials.
