    Chicago prepares for the first snowstorm of the season

    CHICAGO – The city of Chicago has taken steps to prepare for today’s snowstorm.  City crews and plow drivers have been called in to work throughout the day, clearing city streets.  Last month, city officials held a press conference to talk about plans for winter preparedness.  Streets and Sanitation Commissioner Charles Williams says the city is prepared for a very active winter season.     First significant snowfall expected across the Chicago area

    The first significant snowstorm of the season will hit Chicago and the suburbs today.  Snow is moving into the area this morning and will continue to fall until about 6pm.  Two to three inches of snow is expected across most of the area, some spots will get up to four inches.

    One winning ticket sold in $421 Million Powerball jackpot

    A single Powerball ticket sold in Tennessee is worth $420.9 million. The lone winning ticket was sold in Lafayette, a city of about 5,000 residents that is 60 miles northeast of Nashville. It matched all six Powerball numbers drawn Saturday night, the Tennessee Lottery said in a news release. Another ticket with a secondary prize of $2 million was sold in North Carolina, while there were winners of $1 million in Pennsylvania and Minnesota.     CHICAGO – Chicago police are looking for two gunmen who “shot up” a house party early Saturday morning in the South Shore neighborhood. Police say six people were shot and one man is dead.     CHICAGO – Chicago Police are looking for the person who shot and killed a man at a West Side gas station early this morning. The victim, a man in his 20’s, was found shot several times at a Mobil gas station near Madison and Cicero in the South Austin neighborhood.     Man reported missing from River North

    Chicago Police are asking for help finding a man who disappeared from the city’s River North neighborhood earlier this weekend. Samuel Weinstein, 24,  was last seen Friday in the 600 block of North Clark Street. Police say he frequents the River North area as well as north suburban Northbrook.     CHICAGO – The Chicago Police Department has launched a weekend crackdown on crime and drugs with a coalition of police department and federal agencies.   Superintendent Eddie Johnson kicked off the joint operation Friday night with a press conference at Central and Madison.  Johnson says CPD will be working with the Cook County Sheriff’s Department, the FBI, DEA, Department of Homeland Security and the Illinois State Police to break up gangs in “hot zones” on the city’s West and South sides.     Seven people injured in crash involving a street sweeper

    CHICAGO  – Seven people were injured in a crash with a street sweeper on Lower Wacker Drive this morning. It happened just before 2:30 a.m. near Michigan Avenue. The driver of a white Chrysler Pacifica slammed into the street sweeper while it was cleaning the road. The Pacifica then crashed into a white Honda Accord. Seven people were injured and taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
