Terry Sullivan is the President of The Sullivan Firm, ltd., a law firm with offices in Rolling Meadows, downtown Chicago and Old Town. Mr. Sullivan has extensive experience as a trial attorney in both criminal and civil matters and matters as complex as antitrust cases. He has represented individuals as well as Fortune 500 corporations.
Terry earned his Bachelor’s degree with honors from St. Joseph’s College with a major in accountancy. He received his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University School of Law, and was admitted to the practice of law in Illinois. He has since been admitted to practice in New York and before the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
Terry earned public recognition while serving as a prosecutor under three State’s Attorneys. His most notable prosecution was of the infamous John Wayne Gacy, the largest serial killer convicted in the history of the United States. He authored “Killer Clown” describing that experience, which made the Chicago Tribune’s best seller list.
Terry and his partners also prosecuted Patricia Columbo and her lover, Frank DeLuca, for the brutal and mysterious suburban slaying of her father, mother and young brother, who was stabbed 97 times with a pair of scissors. Both remain in Illinois State Prisons
Since entering private practice, Terry has continued his public service by extensive lecturing before government agencies, bar associations, civic groups and charities. Mr. Sullivan has been active in the Northwest Suburban Association of Commerce and Industry and has served on its Board of Directors. In addition, he is a trustee of the Schaumburg Park Foundation and a Board Member of the Irish Fellowship Club of Chicago. He is a member of the American, Illinois, Chicago and Northwest Suburban Bar Associations and various association committees. Sullivan is also a member of the Committee on the Courts for the 21st Century. Terry has been Legal Analyst for WGN-TV for ten years. Viewers throughout the country have seen his analysis and predictions concerning daily occurrences, starting with the O.J. Simpson case. He has continued to explain evolving legal issues for WGN viewers on local, national and international matters. He has also appeared on Discovery Channel, Court TV, CNN, ABC News, A&E public television and other media outlets. He has also written for the Daily Herald Newspaper.
Terry’s clients also include governmental units, such as park districts and police associations. He also is co-author and teacher of an employment law and sexual discrimination course for employers and employees and The Sullivan Firm has created employment manuals for corporate and government clients.
